Why A Micro-Wedding Is The Perfect Fit If You're Saying 'I Do' Abroad

February 10, 2020

One of the hottest trends to hit the wedding scene, more and more couples are opting to swap extravagant celebrations for something a little smaller. A micro-wedding has the romance and intimacy of an elopement but with the benefit of having a handful of your loved ones there. It maintains traditional elements of a wedding, just on a smaller scale, and it’s definitely worth considering if you’re dreaming of tying the knot abroad.

A microwedding usually hosts around 15 – 20 guests and generally doesn’t last as long as a traditional celebration. They’re wonderfully relaxed, less stressful to plan and are often a little friendlier on the purse-strings too. Microweddings also offer more flexibility, giving you the chance to make your celebration truly personal to you both, because you can generally spend more on the day and on each guest than you would have been able to with 250+ guests. So if you wanted to spoil your loved ones with an absolute feast at your favourite beach restaurant in Santorini, or you wanted to create individual wedding welcome bags for your loved ones, it’s a LOT easier and cheaper to do that with just a few guests rather than a few hundred.

However, for couples who are opting for a microwedding as a budget-friendly option and having a smaller soirée definitely doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. You can still go all out with less guests, especially if you’ve chosen to get wed at one of our epic destination wedding venues across the globe. Less people means that locations that would have once have been off-limit are now a possibility. Mountain top ceremonies, lakeside celebrations or underwater nuptials… You name it, it can happen, as long as it means a lot to you both.

As there are fewer elements involved in the planning process, a smaller wedding can be planned in much less time, so if you want to tie the knot sooner rather than later this may be the option for you. Plus, a microwedding means you can share your special day with those you love the most, without having to worry about pleasing everyone and rushing through schedules, timelines and tick-lists.

If you want a relaxed yet luxurious wedding celebration abroad where you can spend quality time with the ones that mean the most, it might be time to think about having a microwedding!
